Crucifix

The carved wooden crucifix that hangs in the sanctuary is modeled upon a late-medieval cross by the artist Cimabue (1240-1302). The arms of the crucifix bear the images of the Blessed Mother and St. John who were present at the crucifixion. The back of the crucifix contains a relic of the True Cross and the Latin phrase from the liturgy of Good Friday, "Behold the wood of the cross on which hung the Savior of the World." The crucifix is a gift of Merl and Alta Baxter and family.
