| Reredos |
|

The reredos or retable, which forms a backdrop to the sanctuary, was removed from St. Thomas Church in Emmetsburg after it was closed in 1997. Similar carvings stand behind the statues of the Blessed Virgin and St. Joseph. Originally painted white, the woodcarvings were refinished and installed in the Cathedral in 1998. The reredos is made of pine, oak, walnut, and mahogany. |
